George J. Lubertazzo Family Chiropractic FAQs
Common Questions Answered
What is a subluxation?
A subluxation is a misalignment in the spine that interferes with normal nerve communication. Because your nerves control everything in your body, even small disturbances can affect how you heal, function, and feel. Our goal is to correct these misalignments so your body can restore balance and health naturally.
Healing is unique for every person. Some notice relief quickly, while others require more time. Results depend on how long the issue has been present, how the body has adapted, and how consistently you follow your care plan. Symptoms may change early on, but the real goal is correcting the underlying spinal misalignments, subluxations, so your body can heal the way it was designed to.
Do you offer electric stimulation or massage therapy?
No. We do not use electric stimulation or massage therapy. Rather than forcing muscles to relax, we focus on correcting spinal misalignments (subluxations) so the body can naturally release tension, balance the nervous system, and restore proper function from the inside out—where true healing begins.
Do you use instrument adjusting?
Yes. We use both the Activator and the Arthrostim instruments. These gentle, precise tools allow for low-force adjustments that help realign the spine and improve nervous system function—ideal for patients who prefer or require a lighter touch.
Why do I have to come so often?
Consistency is key. Subluxations develop over time, and the muscles and ligaments surrounding the spine often adapt to old patterns. Frequent adjustments in the beginning help retrain these structures so your spine can hold its proper alignment. Just like strengthening a muscle, repetition builds stability and long-lasting results.
What should I expect on my first visit?
During your first visit, you’ll complete brief paperwork and meet with Dr. Lubertazzo to discuss your health concerns and goals. Staff will take your vitals and gather additional details. If clinically necessary, Dr. Lubertazzo will take spinal x-rays and perform a thorough spinal examination to locate misalignments and assess nerve involvement. This visit helps us identify the root cause and prepare a personalized plan for you, which will be reviewed with you in detail at your second visit.
Why do you check my whole spine if I don’t feel pain everywhere?
Pain is only one signal—and often the last one. The spine protects the nervous system, which controls every cell, tissue, and organ. A misalignment in one area can interfere with nerve communication in another, even without symptoms. Checking your whole spine ensures your nervous system can function at 100% of its genetic potential, supporting better health and long-term healing.
Do you check children and pregnant women?
Absolutely. Chiropractic care is safe, gentle, and beneficial for infants, children and expectant mothers. Dr. Lubertazzo is trained in the Webster Technique and was fortunate to learn it directly from its founder, Dr. Larry Webster. Adjustments for babies use very light pressure and may help with issues such as colic, difficulty passing stool, latching/feeding challenges, or general discomfort—always with the goal of supporting normal development and nervous system function.
What time should I make my appointment?
Keeping consistent appointments helps with re-educating the muscles surrounding the spine just like a consistent exercise routine. The first and second appointment will each take about a half hour because we want to make sure that we answer all of your questions and listen to your goals for your health.
Why didn’t my body make a ‘cracking’ noise during my adjustment?
The “crack” some people hear is just gas releasing from a joint—similar to opening a soda can. It’s not an indication of whether the adjustment worked. Many of our techniques, especially instrument adjusting, produce little to no sound while still delivering a highly effective correction to the spine and nervous system.
Adjustments are typically gentle. Some people may feel mild soreness afterward as the body adapts to a healthier alignment—similar to the feeling after beginning a new workout routine. This is temporary and a normal part of the healing process.
Why is chiropractic care recommended for life?
Life constantly stresses the spine—gravity, posture, injuries, daily habits, and even emotional stress can create misalignments. These can interfere with nerve communication long before pain ever appears. Regular chiropractic checkups help keep your spine aligned, your nervous system clear, and your body functioning at its best throughout every stage of life—just like brushing your teeth or maintaining your car.
Why do you take spinal x-rays?
Spinal x-rays are taken when needed to understand the structure of the spine, rule out underlying issues, and allow the doctor to deliver the safest and most accurate adjustments. They help us see what we cannot feel—and allow us to build a precise corrective plan.
Do I have to be in pain to get adjusted?
No. Many patients come in for wellness and prevention. Chiropractic focuses on function, not symptoms. Most spinal issues begin silently, and regular checkups keep your nervous system performing at its highest potential.
