Allergies

Allergies“It’s the pollens’ fault!” “I didn’t have allergies when I was a kid. I got them when I was 20. Why?” Sound Familiar.

An allergic reaction occurs when the immune system overreacts to allergens, dust, dandruff, or pollen and produces too many chemicals and symptoms to counteract the allergen. Getting rid of the allergens won’t fix the problem; creating a healthy body will.

An osteopathologist, Dr. Alan Stoddard, found that many diseases are due to misalignments of the spine. Subluxations in the neck and upper back produce muscle spasms, which cause a restriction of lymphatic drainage from the head and neck. Then the body is unable to wash out the bacteria, debris, pollen, and dust. Chiropractic adjustments will immediately relax the muscles responsible for stopping the drainage.

Also, the phrenic nerve powers the two muscles of the diaphragm, which controls breathing. If nerve supply is interfered with by a subluxation, the diaphragm weakens and breathing is impaired. Muscles work to help the diaphragm during a period of difficult breathing, such as with respiratory illness.

All of the muscles must have a nerve supply to work. Subluxations interfering with nerve supply can cause imbalances leading to a respiratory tract infection. Restoring nerve supply by getting adjusted improves muscle tone and aids in overall body function and immune response. Chiropractors locate, detect, and correct subluxations. To make sure pollen, dust, and pet dander do not spoil your spring, get adjusted!
